Discover one of the most fascinating cultures of Peru with a half-day excursion to the Uros Floating Islands on Lake Titicaca. These incredible islands are entirely built from totora reeds and are home to the Uros people, who have preserved their ancestral way of life for centuries.

This tour offers an authentic glimpse into their traditions, daily routines, and unique relationship with nature. You will navigate the highest navigable lake in the world while enjoying breathtaking landscapes and learning directly from the local inhabitants.

Itinerary

Uros Half-Day Tour – Floating Islands of Living Tradition
  • Your experience begins with a hotel pick-up in Puno and transfer to the port, where you will board a comfortable motorboat. As you sail across the calm waters of Lake Titicaca, your guide will introduce you to the history and significance of the Uros people.
  • After approximately 30 minutes of navigation, you will arrive at the Uros Floating Islands. The locals will warmly welcome you and explain how they construct and maintain their islands using totora reeds, a plant that grows abundantly in the lake.
  • You will have the opportunity to walk on the floating surface, visit traditional reed houses, and learn about their lifestyle, including fishing, hunting, and handicraft making. There will also be an optional ride on a traditional reed boat (at an extra cost), offering a deeper connection with their culture.
  • After the visit, you will return by boat to Puno and be transferred back to your hotel.
