Description

Description

Far from the crowded trails and steep climbs, Palcoyo offers a different way to experience the magic of the Andes. Here, the mountains reveal their natural palette in silence—soft reds, ochres, and greens stretching across the horizon in a landscape that feels untouched and խաղաղ.

This lesser-known destination invites you to slow down and truly connect with nature. With minimal hiking required, Palcoyo is perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the Rainbow Mountains in a more relaxed and intimate setting, surrounded by wide valleys, grazing alpacas, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Itinerary

Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour – The Alternative Colors of the Andesiers
  • Your adventure begins early in the morning with hotel pick-up in Cusco (approximately 4:00–5:00 a.m.). You will travel by tourist transport for around 2 hours to Cusipata, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast.
  • After breakfast, the journey continues by vehicle for about 1 hour to reach the Palcoyo area. Unlike the classic Rainbow Mountain, here the vehicle drops you very close to the viewpoint, making the experience much easier and more relaxed.
  • You will take a short and gentle walk (approximately 30–45 minutes) to explore the different colorful mountains. Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Andes, red valleys, and snow-capped peaks in the distance, including the majestic Ausangate Mountain.
  • You will also visit the Stone Forest, a fascinating geological formation composed of tall, naturally sculpted rock structures that add a mystical touch to the landscape.
  • After enjoying the scenery and taking photos, you will return to the vehicle and head back to Cusipata for lunch. Finally, you will travel back to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.
