Description

Description

There are places in the Andes where nature feels untouched, where silence is broken only by the wind and the distant sound of flowing water. The 7 Ausangate Lakes is one of those rare landscapes—a hidden circuit of vibrant lagoons resting at the foot of one of the most sacred mountains in Peru.

This experience takes you beyond the typical routes, into a world of crystal-clear waters, towering glaciers, and vast open skies. Each lagoon reveals a different shade of blue, green, and turquoise, creating a surreal contrast against the rugged terrain of the Andes. It is a journey designed for those seeking authenticity, tranquility, and a deeper connection with nature.

Itinerary

7 Ausangate Lakes Tour – Hidden Turquoise Jewels of the Andes
  • Your adventure begins early in the morning with hotel pick-up in Cusco (approximately 4:00–5:00 a.m.). You will travel by tourist transport for about 3 hours to the community of Pacchanta, located near the base of the majestic Ausangate Mountain.
  • Upon arrival, you will enjoy a local breakfast while taking in the impressive views of snow-capped peaks. Afterward, the hike begins through the high Andean landscape. The route is moderately challenging and takes approximately 4 to 5 hours in total, covering the circuit of the 7 lagoons.
  • Along the trail, you will visit each lagoon, distinguished by its unique color and surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Your guide will explain the importance of Ausangate as an Apu (sacred mountain) and its role in Andean spirituality and local traditions.
  • Throughout the hike, you may encounter herds of alpacas and llamas, as well as local families who maintain their ancestral way of life in these remote areas.
