Itinerary
Itinerary
- Your tour begins with hotel pick-up in Cusco, followed by a transfer to the historic center. The first stop is the Plaza de Armas, where you will admire the heart of the city, surrounded by colonial arcades and historic buildings built upon original Inca walls.
- You will then visit the Cusco Cathedral, one of the most important religious monuments in Peru. Inside, you will appreciate its impressive collection of colonial art, intricate wood carvings, and religious masterpieces that reflect the fusion of Andean and Spanish traditions.
- Next, you will continue to Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun, which was once the most sacred site in the Inca Empire. Your guide will explain how its walls were originally covered in gold and how the Spanish later built the Convent of Santo Domingo over its foundations.
- After exploring the city center, you will head to the surrounding archaeological sites. The first stop is Sacsayhuamán, an extraordinary ceremonial fortress known for its massive stone blocks, some weighing over 100 tons, perfectly fitted without mortar.
- The tour continues to Qenqo, a mysterious ceremonial center with carved rock channels, altars, and underground passages used for ritual purposes. You will then visit Puka Pukara, a strategic military checkpoint that once controlled access to the city.
- Finally, you will arrive at Tambomachay, also known as the “Temple of Water,” where you will observe beautifully constructed aqueducts and fountains that highlight the Incas’ advanced hydraulic knowledge and their reverence for water.
- After completing the circuit, you will return to Cusco and be dropped off near the city center or your hotel.
